Montserrat Gascon studied flute with Salvador Gratacós in Barcelona and with Willy
Freivogel in Sttutgart, Germany, going on to study the baroque traverso flute with Alain
Polak in Barcelona.
She has attended a number of master classes given by Jean-Pierre Rampal, Alain Marion,
etc. and in the interpretation of baroque music by, among others, Wilbert Hazelzet,
Jordi Savall, Rolf Lislevand, Hopkinson Smith. 

She has performed at well-known concert halls such as the Catalan Palace
of Music (Barcelona), the National Auditorium (Madrid), the United Nations (New York),
Caruth Auditorium (Dallas), the Queen Sofia Centre for the Arts (Madrid), Cairo Opera
House (Egypt), The Grand Theatre of Havana (Cuba), Nostiz Palast, Prague (Czech
Republic), Helferei Hall in Zurich (Switzerland), Moscow’s Chapin Theatre (Russia),
the Ruben Darío National Theatre in Managua (Nicaragua), the San José Theatre in
Costa Rica,  the Panama National Theatre… and many others. She has recorded for
radio and television in Europe, America and the Middle East. She has brought out

six CDs and she has recorded for radio and television in Europa, America and Middle East

and shehas brought out six CDS. 

Montserrat currently teaches chamber music at the Escola Superior de Música de

Catalunya  (ESMUC). 

She holds a Master degree in Early Music performance and a doctoral dissertation (PhD) in

Claude Laurent's crystal flutes (1774-1849) from the Universitat

Autònoma de Barcelona and she offers concerts with an original 5-key cristal flute by 

Claude Laurent (Paris, 1823).
